BERKSHIRE. English, Country Dance Tune (9/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was published in the first two editions of the Second Volume of the Dancing Master [1] (1710 and 1714) by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns in London. It was also published in Walsh and Randall's The New Country Dancing Master, Second Book (1710) and Walsh and Hare's Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1719).
