CHARLTON LADS, THE. English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was first printed by London publisher John Walsh in his John Walsh – The Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (3rd edition, London, 1735, No. 10), and in the 1745 edition of the same volume. It also appears in John Johnson's A Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 3 (1744, p. 5).
