LITTLE JACK MACDONALD'S REEL. AKA and see "Detroit (The)," "Detroit Reel," "Beaton's Reel." Cape Breton, Reel. "Little Jack MacDonald's Reel" is the title Cape Breton fiddler Joe Cormier used for his 1974 album, however it has also been recorded as "Detroit Reel" (by Dan Hughie MacEachern, a contemporary of MacDonald's), and by Carl MacKenzie as "Beaton's Reel." MacDonald was raised in Cape Breton but lived much of his life in Ontario, and was part of the Detroit/Ontario/Cape Breton expatriate Cape Breton community cultural exchange.
