MANCHESTER HORNPIPE [3]. English, Old (Lancashire) Hornpipe (3/2 time). E Minor (Offord): C Minor (Walsh). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC (Offord): AABBCCDDEEFFGG (Walsh). John Offord (1990) compares this tune with a typical Galliard and finds many rhythmic similarities. The melody appears in Walsh's Third Collection of Lancashire tunes (Lancashire Jigs, Hornpipes, Joaks, etc.) published around 1730.
