MISS GRAHAM OF MOSSKNOW’S FAVORITE. Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Biography:Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831). Miss Graham was a daughter of William Graham (1756-1832) of Mossknow, near Annan, Dumfries-shire, who married in 1794 Grace Margaret Gordon (1766-1832). They had several children. A boy, also named William Graham, became a career military officer. In 1829 their youngest daughter, Joanna Grace, married Erskine Douglas Sandford, esq. Poet Robert Burns pilloried William Graham of Mossknow (d. 1832) with the following couplet (from the Glenriddel manuscripts):
'Stop thief!' Dame Nature call'd to Death,
As Willie drew his latest breath:
'How shall I make a fool again?
My choicest model thou hast taen.'
