MISS NAPIER'S REEL. Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. There is no composer attribution in John Pringle's 1801 collection, although Pringle added his name to numerous tunes in the volume. Also in the collection is a strathspey called "Wilton Lodge" by one Robert Howison, named after an estate that had come into the hands of Lord Napier of Ettrick and Thirlestane. In 1802 Lord Napier was appointed Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly. "Miss Napier" in Pringle's collection may be named for one of his family.
