PARSON IN THE SUDS [2]. AKA and see “Devil in a Bush (The),” “Kincaldrum," "Maid of Argyle's (The)," "Muldoon's Favorite.” English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune appears in print in London publisher J. Johnson’s Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 6 (1751) and in David Rutherford’s Compleat Collection of 200 Country Dances both Old and New, vol. 1 (1756). The melody appears in the North West England music manuscript collections of John Rook (Waverton, Cumbria, 1842) and Rev. Robert Harrison (Brampton, Cumbria, 1820). American versions under titles "Maid of Argyle's (The)" and "Muldoon's Favorite" appear in the Boston-based Elias Howe company publications.
