PAT CARNEY'S REEL. AKA and see “Braes of Glendochart (The)," "Braes of Glendochert (The)," "Paddy Murphy’s Wife (1),” "Joe Tanzy's Reel," “Mr. Menzies of Culdares.” Irish, Reel. D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. O’Neill prints the tune as “Paddy Murphy’s Wife.” The reel was recorded in New York in 1920 by Columbia Record's house violinist George Stehl (with orchestra) in a medley of reels and jigs (Columbia A2957); Stehl played a wide variety of popular music, and there is nothing 'traditional' about his performance. Alan Jabbour finds the tune a variant of "New Demense (1) (The)."
