PLONGEUSE, LA. French-Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The name of a dance with its own tune in Québec, perhaps dating to the 1700’s and which may have French origins, according to Marius Barbeau (Anne Lederman, “Fiddling”, Encyclopedia of Music in Canada, 1992).
