QUEEN ELIZABETH MARCH. Scottish, March (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Jimmy Moir in 1977 for the Queen of England's Silver Jubilee. Moir is a former Glasgow policeman, born in Ferryden near Montrose, who was awarded the M.B.E. in 1979 for his services on behalf of Scottish fiddle music. He is a long standing member of the Glasgow Strathspey and Reel Society, and became conductor of the group in 1954 (Hunter, 1979).
