Tune properties and standard notation
FLOWING TIDE [1], THE. AKA and see "Bunch of Ferns (The)," "Higgin's Best," "Picnic (The)," "Seventh Regiment," "7th Regiment." Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A reel setting of the tune is played by Cape Breton fiddlers as "The Picnic," set in the key of A Major. See notes for "Picnic Reel (2)" and "Higgin's Best" under which titles the hornpipe was printed in Ryan's Mammoth (1883), predating the "Flowing Tide" title.
