WANTON SEASON. English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune is set for lute by Anthony Holborne in an early manuscript now at the University Library of Cambridge, although the composer is unknown. Chappell (1859) believes it to be a variant of “Mall Sims.”
