ROBERT HAWKES. Irish, Planxty. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). One Part. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). From the two verses set to the tune (printed in Thaddeus Connellan's An Duanair, 1829), Donal O'Sullivan (1958) deduces the piece was composed for a wedding. The Robert Hawkes of the title is unknown.
