Boys of Galway (The)
BOYS OF GALWAY, THE (Buacailli na Gaillaime). Irish, Reel. C Major ('A' part) & D Dorian ('B' part) {O'Neill/Krassen}: C Major {O'Neill/1850}. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850): AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen). Related tunes are "My Mary Anne" and "The Galway Reel [3]." O'Neill gives source credit to uilleann piper James Early, one of his Chicago contemporaries. Paul de Grae believes "My Maryanne" (also in O'Neill's, sourced to Early's playing partner, fiddler John McFadden) is a reworking of the tune. Earlier versions (Goodman, Levey) can be found as "The Galway Reel."
