FIRE IN THE LOG. AKA and see "Possum up a Gum Stump (5)," "Who Shit in Grandpa's Hat." American, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was in the repertory of Scioto County, southern Ohio, fiddler Jimmy Wheeler (1917-1987) as "Fire in the Log," although Wheeler also announced it also had alternate titles "Possum up a Gum Stump" and "Who Shit in Grandpa's Hat." The Quebecois tune "Noces à Lise (Les)" has a cognate first strain, but the second strains differ.
