SNOWSHOES [2]. American, Reel (cut time). USA, Virginia. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB: AABB'CC (Phillips). Related to “Snowshoes (1)”. The reel is reminiscent of (but not cognate to) "Spotted Pony (1)” (Missouri version). "Showshoes [2]" is a binary tune. The third section in Phillips' 1994 collection is source John Ashby's (northern Va.) first strain, while the first of Phillips strains is the one used by Cecil Johnson.
