REEL DE LA POLITIQUE. AKA and see "My Love is but a Lassie Yet (1)." French-Canadian, Quadrille (cut or 2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. "Reel de la politique" is Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard's (1873-1947) version of the Scottish tune "My Love is but a Lassie Yet (1)," well-known in a variety of settings and a myriad of titles on both sides of the Atlantic from the mid-18th century onwards. Allard researcher Jean Duval notes that Allard recorded the tune twice (with the same name), in 1931 and 1937.
