ASPINWALL HORNPIPE. American, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning. AABB. The most famous American Aspinwall, who lived just prior to the publication of Ryan's Mammoth Collection, was William Henry Aspinwall (1807-1875), a shipping magnate whose steam vessels formed the backbone of the California gold rush passage, and who built the first railroad across the Isthmus of Panama. A philanthropist, he was a founder of the Society form the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), and in 1869 helped found the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
