VICTORY [1] (BREAKDOWN). Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Messer): AA'BB' (Begin). Composed by Maritime radio and TV fiddler Don Messer [1] (1909-1973), whose recording was issued near the end of World War II. Douglastown, Gaspé, Québec, fiddler Erskine Morris, apparently confused by the melodic similarity in parts with "Liverpool Hornpipe", referred to Messer's reel by the latter title.
