Originally from N:Tullymet, near Pitlochry, Perthshire. He moved to London in the last decade N:of his life. The strathspey was printed by John Gow in his A Favorite Collection of Slow Airs, Strathspeys and Reels (London, c. 1804, p. 1). It also appears under the "Prince of Wales Strathspey" title in a small volume printed in Dublin by Edmund Lee entitled Mrs. Parker's Selection of Scotch Tunes, Strathspey and Reels (no date), which appears to be a reprint of a portion of the Gow volume. However, the strathspey is a composition of biography:Robert Mackintosh who titled in "Garthland House (1)" and published it in Edinburgh in 1790.
