THREE RAVENS, THE. English, Air (2/2 time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The air appears in Thomas Ravenscroft's Melismata (1611). The songs in the book were generally considered much older, states Kines, while Walker (1924) considers it an Elizabethan melody. Versions of songs about three crows exist today in folk tradition (see the Scottish song "Twa Corbie").
