WHEN YOU’VE HOOKED HIM, HOLD HIM FAST. AKA and see "Inch of Perth." Scottish; Strathspey and Reel (whole time). Canada, Cape Breton. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is sometimes attributed to fiddler-composer biography:Joseph Lowe (1797-1866), who published a set of six collections in Scotland in the 1840's, under the title Collection of Strathspeys Jigs and Reels (1844-45). It appears in his collection as "When You've Hooked Him, Hold Him Fast," but is in fact a close variant of Robert Bremner's earlier "Inch of Perth."
