REEL BLANCHETTE. AKA and see "Reel à quatre (3)," "Reel du quêteux Tremblay de Aimé Gagnon." French-Canadain, Reel. From the playing of harmonica player Louis Blanchette (1905-1969), born in Rivière-du-Loup into a farming family whose father played the fiddle. In 1930 he moved to Montreal and began a fairly prolific recording career in the 78 RPM era, making some thirty recordings. The reel was also in the repertoire of Louis Beaudoin. Part of this tune resembles the second strain of Omer Marcoux's "Haytime."
