It was published in Boston in 1843 in a folio of six songs sung by the Virginia Minstrels, one of the first and most famous blackface minstrels groups to perform. It was also entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Bellport, Long Island, ship-builder and musician biography:Isaac Homan.
