DOWN WITH YE RUMPS. AKA - "Rodrick Random." AKA and see "Sheela Ó Gara (1)." English, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody was entered into the c. 1770 music copybook of Lincoln fiddler William Clark. The alternate title given by Clark, "Rodrick Random," was the name of a novel by Tobias Smollett, published in 1748 (wikipedia:The Adventures of Roderick Random). The tune however, was published earlier in the 18th century by Burk Thumoth under the title "Chiling O guiry"/"Sheela Ó Gara (1)."
