GRANT'S RANT [4]. AKA and see "Cromdel Hill." Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Grant's Rant [4]", unrelated to other tunes with the title "Grant's Rant", is contained in musician and dancing master David Young's Drummond Castle Manuscript Part 2 (1734, No. 38). Young also included the reel in his MacFarlane Manuscript (c. 1740, No. 170, p. 231), compiled for his patron at the time, MacFarlane of MacFarlane, albeit under the title "Cromdale/Cromdel Hill," and also with the 'Cromdale' title, in his Bodelian Manuscript, also of c. 1740.
