HIGHLAND BONNET, THE. Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune was entered into the music manuscript collection of fiddler Patrick O'Farrell, of Aughadowry, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford, c. 1870. Researcher Conor Ward finds it cognate with "Bloom of Youth (The)" AKA "Dr. Taylor." Ward also finds a variant in another local version, "Highland Lament (The)," in the Larry Smyth MS c. 1900, of Abbeylara, Co. Longford.
