SURGEON'S TRIUMPH, THE. Scottish, March (4/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "The Surgeon's Triumph" was composed by the famous Scottish fiddle-composer, wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner, c. 1922 and dedicated to a Dr. Milne, a surgeon who had operated on him. Skinner's tune surfaced in a rather circuitous manner: it was obtained from the surgeon's son, who gave it to Ian Collie, Director of Education for Central Region, who in turn gave it to Shetland musician, folklorist and collector Dr. Tom Anderson. Anderson presented it to Scottish fiddler Bill Hardie, who included it in his volume Beauties of the North (1986).
