LAWN, THE. American, Stop Jig (2/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A 'stop jig' was a kind of duple time, syncopated dance tune akin to a schottishe (or sometimes a reel). It was meant as a vehicle for a solo dance that featured hesitations or stops in the dance movements as the music paused.
