WEST KILBRIDE. Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. A.M Volti is probably the son of biography:Carl Volti (1848-1919) who contributed some 35 melodies to the Kerr’s Merry Melodies collections. A companion tune is the strathspey “East Kilbride.” A. Maurice Volti is listed as a violin teacher working with Carl Volti at the same Glasgow business address, while Carl is listed as a "Composer of Music". Their names, however, are pseudonyms or rather professional names (as they did not try to hide their original names), for their real last name was Milligan, and they were Scottish by birth. The 'Volti' name was adopted as a professional affectation.
West Kilbride is in South Lanarkshire, directly south of the city of Glasgow.
