SHEGUIANDAH BAY. AKA and see “Perth Waltz.” Canadian, Waltz (3/4 time). Canada, Ontario. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Sheguiandah Bay" ('Shagoonda') was composed by fiddler and Ontario Provincial Police Officer Don Pettigrew, who used to compete in the Perth, Ontario, fiddle contest where he played the tune and where it was picked up by other musicians (hence the alternate title). It is often locally paired with another of Pettrigrew’s waltzes, “Wilhemine's Rose.”

Source for notated version : - Fiddler Mary Acocello (1910-2003, Burlington, Washington, born in Montana) [Williams]. Acocello's father was a fiddler, and, according to Stuart Williams, although he was no keen on his children becoming musicians, by the age of 14 she was playing local events with her brother-in-law. She served as president of the Washington Old time Fiddlers Association from 1977-1980.
