JACKSON'S WATERING TOOTH. Irish, Reel (whole or cut time). E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. This curiously-titled tune appears in biography:Rev. Luke Donnellan's (1878-1952) collection now housed in the Department of Irish Folklore, University College, Dublin. Donnellan was a curate and fiddler from the Oriel region of south Ulster who collected dance music and songs in the very early 20th century and who published a few articles on the subject[1].

- ↑ Donnellan researcher Gerry O'Connor came to believe Donnellan's dance music ms. is not the work of the curate but rather was originally compiled by an unknown but able fiddler over the course of a playing lifetime, probably in the late 19th century. The ms. later came into the possession of Donnellan, who was also a fiddler.
