REEL DU RETOUR. AKA - "Reel de retour." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A slightly 'crooked' or irregular reel from the playing of Montreal fiddler Isidore Soucy (1899-1962) who recorded it in 1946. Jean Duval notes that this August 1, 1946, recording marks Soucy's return to the studio after World War II (after a hiatus of three years)[1] Duval finds "Reel de detour" (as he gives the title--it is "Reel du detour" on the record label) to be a version of Soucy's "Gigue des espionages (La)" and "Reel du pôle nord" with some slight differences.
