GALLANT WEAVER, THE. Scottish, Air. The tune was used for a song called "The Gallant Weaver" in James Johnson's Scots Musical Museum. James Dick claims that the air, which occurs in a 1782 collection as ‘Weaver’s March, of Twenty-first of August’, ‘has not the character of a Scottish melody'.
