BOATING UP SANDY [2]. Old-Time, Breakdown. A Major ('A' part) & A Mixolydian ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Bluegrass fiddler Kenny Baker's (1926-2011) father, Thaddeus Baker of Jenkins, Kentucky, played the tune and was cited by east Kentucky fiddler biography:Owen Chapman as his source for the tune. They are quite similar in the first strain, but the second strains differ somewhat. Thaddeus's brother, Lexie Baker, also played a similar version of the tune, which was popularized by Chapman.
