SPLASH'D PETTICOAT. AKA - "Splash Petticoat." English, Jig and Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Splash'd Petticoat" is in a section of dances by 'Mr. Rose' in David Rutherford's Compleat Collection (1756). As "Smash Petticoat," the tune was entered into the American music manuscript collections of fifer Thomas Nixon (Conn., c. 1776, p. 51) and Ralph Pomeroy (Conn., 1790, p. 9).
