TOUCH AND TAKE. AKA and see "Oaken Leaves (1)." English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The melody dates to 1652 when it was printed with directions for a country dance in John Playford's Dancing Master, 2nd Edition (No. 110). Beginning with the 5th Dancing Master edition of 1675 the title of the tune was changed to "Oaken Leaves (1)" by which title the piece was retained in subsequent editions through the 8th edition of 1690. Henry Playford, John's son, dropped it from further Dancing Master editions.
