HARVEY SAMPSON (1909-1991), Nicut, Calhoun/Braxton county line, West Virginia. Sampson was one of seven children, born into a musical family. His father, David Andrew, and his brother, Homer, played the fiddle although Harvey's first instrument was the banjo (he did not pick up the fiddle until the 1940's). He married his sweetheart, Mary. Harvey Sampson died in 1991 in Roane General Hospital after a long illness at 91 years of age.
