THADELO'S BARN DANCE [1].   AKA - "Thadelo's Hornpipe," "Thadelo's No. 3." Irish; Barndance, Hornpipe (2/4 or whole time). Ireland, Sliabh Luachra, County Kerry. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Sliabh Luachra accordion player Johnny O'Leary paired this barndance with a version of "Turkey in the Straw." According to researcher Brendan Breathnach, his melody "Polca Chrosaire an Leacaigh/Lackagh Cross Polka (The)" is related to "Thadelo's Barn Dance [1]" (O'Leary, No. 246). Breathnach had his polka from Art O'Keeffe, who played it for the collector on one of his visits to Sliabh Luachra. Breathnach also noted that "Peter Murphy used to play it". Its possible the note was made in error, for a comparison of the tunes reveals the relationship between them is obscure at best.
