COAL BRANCH REEL, THE. Canadian, Reel. Canada, New Brunswick. Composed by fiddler Suzanne LeBlanc, named after Coal Branch, a small community northwest of Moncton, New Brunswick. Devon Leger suspects that Suzanne LeBlanc and fiddler Gerry Robichaud's source, Helen Arsenault, were from the same family in the small town of Coal Branch, as they both were née "Maillet" or "Mailet". The tune is an Acadian adaptation of the Scottish/Irish "Miss McLeod's Reel (1)"/"Mrs. MacLeod of Raasay (1)".
