GALOP DES POMPIERS. AKA - "Galope des pompiers". AKA and see "Gigue des pompiers," "Gigue du sous-marin," "Reel des sous-marin." French-Canadian, Galop (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. "Galop des Pompiers" was a collaboration between the playing of Montreal accordionist Alfred Montmarquette and the singing and percussion of Madamme Bolduc (Mary Travers). After an instrumental of the first two strains, Mme. Bolduc sang about firefighters rushing to quell a blaze:

Galope et galope galopez donc,
Galope et galope galopez donc;
Voilà les pompiers qui sont pressé,
Ôtes-toi dans la rue tu vas t’faire accrocher.
Galope et galope galopez donc,
Galope et galope galopez donc;
C’est l’père Laperrière qui a l’feu dans l’derrière,
Il faut l’arroser pour l’empêcher d’brûler.
