Coquette (3)
COQUETTE [3]. Old Time, Breakdown. AKA and see "Charles of Sweden," "Cheat or Swing," "The Cheat," "Frisky Jenny," "In My Cottage Near the/a Wood," "Pretty Polly [5]" (Bayard), "Tenth of June," "The Weaver's March." John Hartford suspects regionally influential fiddler (eastern Ky./W. Va.) fiddler Ed Haley played this tune. Samuel Bayard says the tune is 'international' and possibly French in origin (see note for "Pretty Polly").
Recorded source: Rounder 0392, John Hartford - "Wild Hog in the Red Brush (and a Bunch of Others You Might Not Have Heard)" {1996}.
