JENNY PLUCK PEARS. English, Country Dance Tune ('A' part in 6/8 time, 'B' part in 3/4 or 6/4 time). A Minor (Barnes, Karpeles, Raven, Sharp): C Minor (Merryweather). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Karpeles, Merryweather, Raven, Sharp): AABB (Barnes). The tune was first published by John Playford in 1651 in his English Dancing Master. This particular melody was retained in the series through the 3rd edition of 1665. However, there were other melodies that Playford published under the title "Jenny Pluck Pears", which was the name of the dance.
