ASHMOLEAN HOUSE (Teach Ashmolean). AKA - "Ash Maley House," "The Ashmolean." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning. AABB. Breathnach (1996) attributes the composition to Belfast and Derrylin, County Fermanagh, fiddler and singer Tommy Gunn. The Ashmolean is the university museum of Oxford, University, England. A cousin to the tune "Mullingar Races." Sources for notated version: Martin Mulvihill (Bronx, NY), Joe & Willie Kelly, Jerry O'Sullivan (Yonkers, NY) [Black]; County Fermanagh & Belfast fiddler Tommy Gunn via the mid-20th century Liam Donnolly (County Tyrone & Belfast) collection [Breathnach]; New Jersey flute player Mike Rafferty, born in Ballinakill, Co. Galway, in 1926 [Harker].
