BEGGARMAN, THE. Irish, March or Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "In my Ancient Irish Music (pg. 45) there is a setting of this air: but the one I give here is much better" (Joyce). Like Bunting's "An Deirctheoir" (The Beggar), this appears to be yet another version of "The Little Beggarman," popular and common throughout the British Isles. See the related "Duke of Aberdeen."
