DANIEL KELLY. AKA and see "Fly Not Yet," "Hugh Kelly." Irish, Air or Planxty. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). This is one of seven airs O'Carolan composed for people named Kelly. According to Donal O'Sullivan, the tune was probably composed for a gentleman by that name from Turrock, near Ballyforan, County Roscommon (although he points out that, next to Murphy, Kelly is the most common surname in Ireland). Daniel Kelly's daughter married Ignatius Kelly of Cargins in 1745 (the groom was the son of Edmond Kelly of Castleruby, County Roscommon).
