DRAGOON [2], THE. Irish, Double Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Kerr): AA'BB' (Songer). The jig is assigned an Irish provenance in Kerr's Merry Melodies, vol. 4. According to Susan Songer (Portland Collection), this jig is known among Portland, Oregon, fiddlers as "The Grey Buck" due to a misnaming by Deborah and Creighton Lindsay, who had the tune from a recording of an English band contained in a medley; "The Grey Buck" was the Lindsay's guess as to the name and it was picked up under that title by local musicians.
