GALLAGHER'S [1]. AKA and see "Brístín Mire (An)," "Cunla," "Friar's Breeches," "Friar's Britches," "Frieze Breeches (1)/Frieze Britches (1)," "I Buried My Wife and Danced on Her Grave," "On St. Patrick's Day I was Gay," "Trumlo (The)." Irish, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BBCC'DD'E. Paddy Killoran recorded the tune under this title. Source O'Leary maintained fiddle Padraig O'Keeffe knew this tune as "Gallagher's" and that it was "the Galway crowd" that called it "Frieze Breeches." Nevertheless, this particular tune is almost universally known in sessions as "Frieze Breeches", while the "Gallagher's" title is applied to the melodically similar tune "Gallagher's Frolic (3)".
