Tune properties and standard notation

GNEEVGULLIA POLKA [1]. Irish, Polka. Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. According to folk tradition the small town of Gneeveguilla had, by itself, 20 fiddlers before the Great Famine of the 1840's decimated them (Hickey, Stone Mad for Music, 1999).

Source for notated version: fiddler Pádraig O'Keeffe (Sliabh Luachra region) via accordion player Johnny O'Leary, recorded from the latter in concert at Na Píobairí Uilleann, February, 1981 [Moylan].

Printed sources: Moylan (Johnny O'Leary), 1994; No. 64, pp. 36-37.
