JOHNNY MUISE'S REEL. Canadian, Reel. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by the late Inverness, Cape Breton, fiddler Jerry Holland (1955-2009). The tune has some currency in modern Cape Breton sessions. Johnny Muise was originally from the Inverness, Cape Breton, area, and had a reputation as the best 'bones' or clappers player on the island. The Muise household in Roslindale, Boston, where they removed to for many years, was a hub of expatriate Cape Breton music. Janine Randall, who runs the Ceilidh Trail School of Celtic Music, is Johnny's daughter.
